Can cats sense a human's pain?

Every time I get my period and I have bad cramps my boyfriends cat comes and lays on my belly (where my uterus is) while i'm asleep and it makes the pain feel better. This cat loves me so much because I feed him and take care of him but i find it a little bizarre that he lays on my womb lol. I also have a cat of my own and when I have a bad day at work or i'm depressed she comes and snuggles with me in bed. Has your cat ever done anything like this to you? Is this creepy or what?
