Whats the propery way to cite this?

Im doing a research paper (mla)... if i want to quote something frome a book...would it be "...................." (authors name, pg.) or "...................."(pg#)??... or is it some other way.??... how would i quote from a book? article? and journal?.....help.. im kind of confused at the moment...lost my mind after a week of vacation
