New Netherland help please?!?

i'm doing a homework thats a crossword on the middle colonies. i though it would be pretty simple but its not! this one of the questions i can not figure. "he wanted to make new netherland an english colony in 1664". i loooked all over the internet and my textbooks but cant find it! also the 3 to last letter has to be a s. please help?!!!
