Why my boyfriend doesnt call me anymore? Im confused and dont know what I should? any advice?

I've been with my boyfriend for 5 years . The last two years in the relationship was like a rollercoaster up and down. My boyfriend lived in california and then he went to mexico to visit his mother and son. The reason why he went to Chicago because his mother begged and pleaded him to please be with your brother and see how my son is doing, so my boyfriend promised his mother instead of coming back to callifornia. To make long story short he was living in chicago and I left california to go visit him , He was really happy to see me. His brother girlfriend would tell me he would go sit in the corner of his room and look though my pictures and he will always talk to her about me about how much he misses me and reminese about me. he also told her Im so glad she came to visit me and that I don't want to lose her agian. When I left chicago to go back to california. it was a emotional farewell for him, he was so sad. 1 month later after I left Chicago, he got into trouble and went to jail. We wrote each other alot , when he was locked up then later I found out he got released after 6 months in jail. I didnt hear from him. All contact stopped So I decided to call his mom in Mexico and she told me he is in mexico with me. When I finally got in contact with him on the phone. I ask him why you didnt call me to tell me what going on. He said he called many times but I didnt answer the phone.I told him to call me . I gave him my cell phone. He never made any attempts to call me . it like he completely forgot about me when he went back to mexico. I said everytime I call you never at the house. He says he work and help his uncle out in the car shop. I ask him mom if it was true and she says yes. I called his house agian and I spoke to him and ask the same question why you dont call me? ect. He said he would call me. I ask him if he love me he says yes and he want to stay with me. well he finally called me and i had 2 missed calls, after that he never called agian or try to call me. I called his house agian and his mom say he went out of town to work with his dad. He has his own personal phone, but he does not call me at all. I havent heard from him in weeks. I dont know what to do. I so upset about this, it like since he got out of jail and he in mexico with all his family in friends. he doesnt need me anymore. That how I feel I dont know. But he says he coming back to california in May but I dont think he will, because he never call me .just only twice and I missed the calls but other than that. my boyfriend completely stop calling me and he has his own personal cell phone. and I dont understand that. He gave me his phone number but doesnt work. Tell me what should I do about his situation.I have so many thing racing in my mind. I need some advice.
